pay yearly, or pay once?

Most teams should pay yearly: it's cheaper for the first couple of years, and updates and support are included. Pay once if you need a one-time purchase, for example because subscriptions are hard to get approved. You buy the smallest tier that covers your staff, and you own that version for good.

Price list

What it costs over time

Subscription priced at the tier's full seat count. "With renewals" means you buy the update renewal every year after the first.

Moving up

Within the 12-month update window, everything you've paid counts toward the new license. You pay the difference.

read the fine print

  • Try everything first. Every new install runs a -day trial with every feature and unlimited staff. You don't sign up, and it makes no network calls.
  • If a license lapses: licenses are checked offline, without activation or any connection to us. A lapsed subscription gets a -day grace period, then the server switches to Community. Your data stays and everyone can keep working; you can't add staff past five until you renew.
  • Which tier? The smallest one that covers your staff. 6–10 staff buy the 10 tier, 11–15 the 15, 16–25 the 25, and so on up to 100.
  • More than 100 staff? Ask us for a quote. An Unlimited license for one server is (Team) or (Business).
  • Growing mid-year? Add seats or move from Team to Business at any time. You pay the prorated difference and get a new key. Nothing to reinstall.
  • Discounts: founding customers (sign up while GooseNotes is 0.x) get 30% off for as long as they stay. Nonprofits and schools get 50% off. Both work on yearly plans, pay-once licenses and renewals. Startups (under 2 years old, under $2M raised) get 50% off the first year of a subscription. Open-source projects get Team for free.
  • Cloud fair use: up to active business users per paid staff seat. Above that, we'll contact you before anything changes. Cloud Community is free for up to 3 staff.
  • Currency and tax: prices are in US dollars, before tax. Tax is added where it applies.
