Your team's to-do list, on a sticky note.
GooseNotes is a small ticket tracker for dev teams and everyone who asks them for things. Developers get their tickets on a sticky note in the corner of the screen, with the whole board one click behind it. Everyone else gets a friendly portal to ask for things and watch them ship. It works offline, and the server is a single file you run yourself.

put the team's tickets on a sticky note
The note stays on top of whatever you're working in and shows two lists: tickets assigned to you, and your own odds and ends. Tick one off and your team sees it. The menu behind ☰ opens the board: columns you drag cards between, filters, comments, and the full history of each ticket. You can start a timer on a ticket or clock in for the day from the tray, too.
let everyone else ask for things
Sales, finance, ops and HR need things from the dev team too, but they shouldn't have to learn a ticket tracker. They get a requests portal in the browser instead. They pick what they need (new software, a feature, a bug fix or some help), add a screenshot, and follow it from submitted to shipped. The progress bar moves on its own as the linked tickets move, so nobody has to send "any news?" emails. Colleagues can vote and comment.

For bigger asks there are projects: a proposal, requirements both sides sign off, a timeline the team can actually hit, then milestones and user acceptance testing at the end.
People who only ask for things never take a paid seat, on any plan.
keep working when the wifi doesn't
Every change saves to your own computer first, time entries included. On a train, in a basement or during an outage, you keep moving cards and ticking things off. When you're back online it syncs on its own. You won't hit an "offline" error or lose an edit.

Working alone? Pick "Use offline" at sign-in to get a personal board with no server and no account.
hook it up to the code
Put a ticket key like APP-12 in a branch name, a commit or a pull request, and GooseNotes links the work to the ticket. Write "Closes APP-12" and merging the pull request moves the ticket along the board for you. It works with GitHub, Forgejo and Gitea, any plain git server through a hook, and Jenkins for build status.
git commit -m "APP-12 wrap long lines"

- 3 commits
- PR #48 merged
- build passed
- moved to review
Business users see a plain-language version in the portal: a few commits in, pull request merged, last build passed.
show the boss who finished what
Everything that happens to a ticket is recorded. Managers get reports on what got finished each day, how long work takes once it's started, and who's carrying what. They open on the desktop or in any browser. Misc to-dos only show up there if you choose to log them.

If you want it, there's time tracking too: clock in and out, timers on tickets, time off, and a capacity view that shows how many hours the team really has free. Timesheets export to CSV, or to a file you can import into ADP payroll.
get it onto every computer
A small native app for macOS and Windows that lives in your tray. Download it, click "Use offline", and you're using it in under a minute.
macOS Windows Linux coming soon
Also: Windows .msi · checksums. macOS builds are for Apple silicon (M1 and newer).
On Linux? The desktop app for Linux is coming soon. Until then, the GooseNotes server runs on Linux today, and the requests portal and admin dashboard work in any browser.
If Windows or macOS warns you the first time, the build isn't code-signed yet. On Windows, click More info → Run anyway. On a Mac, right-click the app and choose Open.
For a team, run the server. It's one file for Windows, macOS or Linux (ARM included), with the portal and admin dashboard built in and everything stored in a single database file. You don't need Node, a database server or Docker.

work out the price
Pricing is per staff seat: admins, managers and developers. People who only submit requests are free on every plan. Every install starts with a 30-day trial with all features on, and there's nothing to sign up for.

Staff are admins, managers and developers. Paid plans are billed yearly and start at 6 seats. Business adds priority support and audit log export. Single sign-on is planned for Business but isn't available yet. A pay-once license starts at 10 seats and includes a year of updates. After that it keeps working for good, and renewing updates costs 40% a year.
Licenses are checked offline, with no activation and no phone-home, so GooseNotes runs on networks with no internet too. If a license lapses, your data stays put and everyone can keep working. You won't be able to add staff until it's renewed.
Founding customers get 30% off for as long as they stay, and nonprofits and schools get 50% off, on yearly plans and pay-once licenses alike. Startups get 50% off their first year, and open-source projects get Team for free. Moving from another tracker? Get in touch and we can help bring your tickets over.
things people ask
- Do business users need a seat?
- No. Anyone who only asks for things is a requester, and requesters are free and unlimited on every plan.
- What happens after the 30-day trial?
- It becomes the free Community edition. Nothing is deleted or locked. If you have more than 5 staff by then, everyone keeps working; you just can't add more staff until you get a license.
- Where does my data live?
- On your own server, in one database file you can back up by copying it. The desktop app keeps a copy for offline work. Requests and projects can be made private, and private to-dos never leave your computer.
- Can managers see everything?
- They see the team's tickets, reports and time. Your private misc to-dos stay private unless you log them.
- Does it do sprints?
- Not yet. For bigger pieces of work, projects give you requirements, a timeline, milestones and sign-off. If your team needs something specific, tell us.
- Can I buy online?
- Not yet. Online checkout is coming soon. Until then, contact us and we'll send your license key and an invoice. The 30-day trial needs no license, so you can start right away.
- What's still coming?
- A Linux version of the desktop app, a hosted version where we run the server for you, single sign-on (SAML/OIDC) for Business, online checkout, and code-signed installers. Everything else on this page works today.
- Why a goose?
- Because a goose doesn't let anything slip past it.
